Long-term renting, how it works
One-year renewable leases
With us, long-term leases are signed for one year, renewable each year. It is the formula of relocated families, entrepreneurs and retirees settling on the island.
Rents in rupees
Rents are negotiated in Mauritian rupees (Rs). On our listings, every rent is also shown in euros, converted at the day’s rate, so you can compare at a glance.
Mostly furnished
Most rentals aimed at expats come furnished and equipped: you arrive with your suitcases. Unfurnished homes exist too, just tell us your preference.
Remote visits available
Not on the island yet? We organise guided video visits and prepare the file remotely, so you can sign as soon as you land.
Rent first, buy later: the winning strategy
Many of our clients start by renting: it is the best way to test a neighbourhood, the school run, the trade-wind season or Grand Baie life before committing to a purchase. A year of renting teaches you more than ten holidays.
Expat demand is strong in the North and the West, and the best homes go fast: arrive with a ready file and clear criteria. Create an alert with your criteria and you will be emailed as soon as a matching home is published.

Renting in Mauritius: frequently asked questions
How long is a long-term lease in Mauritius?
Our long-term leases are signed for one year, renewable each year. It is the formula used by expat families, entrepreneurs and retirees settling on the island.
Are rents in euros or rupees?
Rents are negotiated in Mauritian rupees (Rs). On our listings, every rent is also displayed in euros, converted at the day’s rate, so you can compare easily.
Do rentals come furnished?
Most rentals aimed at expats are furnished and equipped, ready to live in. Unfurnished homes exist too: state your preference and we will steer the search.
Do I need a residence permit to rent?
In practice, yes: a tourist visa is capped at 90 days while our leases are signed for one year. We therefore always ask for at least proof that a permit or long-stay visa application has been filed before signature: Premium Visa (free), residence permit through a property purchase, retired status or an Occupation Permit. Our dedicated page details each route.
Can I search for a rental before arriving on the island?
Yes, and it is even recommended: demand is strong in the North and the West. We organise guided video visits, prepare the file remotely, and you can create an email alert on your criteria.
